London Stock Exchange Trading Hours and the New York Overlap
The London Stock Exchange trades from 08:00 to 16:30 UK time on weekdays, closed on bank holidays.
Normal trading hours
The main session runs from 08:00 to 16:30 London time, with an opening auction before 08:00 and a closing auction after 16:30. Trading stops on weekends and on bank holidays, and there are early closes on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Overlap with New York
The New York Stock Exchange opens at 09:30 Eastern, which is 14:30 in London when the usual five-hour gap applies. The two markets therefore overlap for two hours, from 14:30 to 16:30 UK time.
In the weeks when the UK and US clocks are out of step, in March and late October to early November, the gap is four hours, and the overlap grows to three hours, from 13:30 to 16:30 UK time.
