UK Time

UK to Asia Time Difference by City: Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo

Most of Asia does not use daylight saving, so the gap with the UK changes by exactly one hour when the UK moves between GMT and BST.

The gap for each city

Dubai: 4 hours ahead of the UK in UK winter, and 3 hours ahead of the UK in UK summer.

Mumbai: 5.5 hours ahead of the UK in UK winter, and 4.5 hours ahead of the UK in UK summer.

Karachi: 5 hours ahead of the UK in UK winter, and 4 hours ahead of the UK in UK summer.

Singapore: 8 hours ahead of the UK in UK winter, and 7 hours ahead of the UK in UK summer.

Hong Kong: 8 hours ahead of the UK in UK winter, and 7 hours ahead of the UK in UK summer.

Beijing: 8 hours ahead of the UK in UK winter, and 7 hours ahead of the UK in UK summer.

Tokyo: 9 hours ahead of the UK in UK winter, and 8 hours ahead of the UK in UK summer.

Half-hour offsets

India uses UTC+5:30, and Nepal UTC+5:45, so the gap with the UK is a half or three-quarters of an hour more than a whole number. Remember this when you plan calls: 09:00 in London is 14:30 in Mumbai in winter and 13:30 in summer.

Working days

The working week is different in some countries. In the UAE it is Monday to Friday, in Saudi Arabia it is Sunday to Thursday for some employers, and in Israel it is Sunday to Thursday. Check the working week as well as the time gap before you set a meeting.

Frequently asked questions

Does Asia change its clocks?

Most of Asia does not. Some places in the Middle East and the Caucasus have used daylight saving in the past, but the large economies in East and South Asia do not.
